The shower is one of those special moments when you can be alone with yourself. Whether long, fast, cold or hot, a shower is always a time for well-being, as it allows you to get rid of the dirt stuck to your skin and relax under the water for a few minutes.
However, we should be aware that we sometimes make mistakes in the form of bad showering habits.
Here’s a closer look at the 5 mistakes we mustn’t make while showering.
Mistake No. 1: The hot shower
A hot shower is a great way to wake up in the morning or relax your muscles after a hard day’s work. But it’s not so good for the skin, as it tends to…simply burn! Too much heat dries out the epidermis, so don’t be surprised if your skin starts to peel after a hot shower.
To avoid this inconvenience, turn down the temperature of your water when you shower. Just bear in mind that whatever the water temperature, it will always feel good as it cleanses the skin.
Mistake n°2: Removing make-up in the shower
This is a mistake many of us make. And for good reason: it saves time and avoids having to “slather on” make-up remover before going to bed. Nevertheless, skipping the make-up removal step is a monumental mistake for the skin, as water doesn’t remove certain products and soap is irritating.
The time-saving trick to removing make-up is to generously brush your face with sweet almond oil, then rub gently with absorbent cotton to loosen the make-up products. You can then step into the shower to wash it all off with lukewarm water!
Mistake no. 3: Overusing shower gel
Of course, the scent of shower gel can be so intoxicating that you can’t resist slathering it generously all over your body. However, there’s no need to do this, as you don’t need to empty the bottle to get clean. What’s more, when you use a product like Gas’Care Honey Rosewood shower gel, just a few milliliters are enough to remove all the dirt.
Moreover, too much product can be harsh on the skin due to its chemical components. By opting for Gas’care gel, you can also avoid this inconvenience, as it is a gentle, moisturizing cleanser.
At the end of the day, it’s all a question of product choice and measurement!
Mistake No. 4: Scouring the skin
Scrubbing our skin to the point of redness can be very rewarding, especially when we’re particularly dirty. However, this habit is counter-productive, as it tends to irritate and weaken the skin over the long term.
That’s why some specialists don’t recommend using shower flowers to scrub the skin while bathing. Good practice would be to reserve the use of shower gloves or shower flowers for days when the skin is really dirty. In this case, be sure to use circular movements and rub gently, so as not to excessively aggress the skin.
Mistake n°5: leaving the flower or shower glove inside the bathroom after use
Shower flowers and washcloths should be used very sparingly. This is because, on the one hand, they are harsh on the skin and, on one other hand, they can become real breeding grounds for bacteria. This is especially true if you store them in the bathroom after your shower.
This bad habit exposes your accessories to bacteria and other micro-organisms that proliferate under the effect of humidity. So, after showering, wash your shower glove or shower flower thoroughly with soap and water, then rinse and air-dry outside the shower.
Whether or not you have time to wash them afterwards, don’t leave your accessories in the shower, and don’t use them again until you’ve thoroughly washed and dried them.
Note that this advice also applies to razors and soap bars, which should be carefully rinsed and dried, then stored in a dry place before reuse.
