As agreed, the official celebration of World Health Day in Madagascar took place as planned on Sunday, April 7th, 2024 in Analamanga. More specifically, in Antanimenabe, Antananarivo. Thanks to the dedication of partners and collaborators, the event was successful.
Origin of World Health Day (WHD)
World Health Day is considered as one of the most significant annual celebrations. However, awareness of its existence is still deemed insufficient, especially in Madagascar.
The celebration of World Health Day marks the establishment of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the 1950s. It aims to raise global health issues awareness among the general public.
“My health, my right,” an influential theme for local wellbeing
For this year, the theme of World Health Day’s celebration is “My health, my right“. The motto emphasizes the importance of individuals accessing and managing their own healthcare. This aligns with the overall goal of promoting universal healthcare coverage and equity for all citizens, particularly those who are disadvantaged.
As a side note, with this major event organized by the Ministry of Public Health, the organizing team expects over 1.000 people to benefit from various activities during the celebration. These attendees received complimentary medical services during the April 7th, 2024 event.
